DeVonta Smith was trying to enjoy Sunday’s NBA playoff game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat when the jumbotron caught him in the crowd, but incorrectly identified the former Alabama wide receiver.

Smith was labeled a “former Philadelphia Eagle,” but the former Heisman Trophy winner is still under contract with the Eagles, and expected to be a key part of the offense moving forward.

Smith retweeted the image on Twitter, and wrote, “Damn, got fired on my day off.”

Smith was drafted by Philadelphia No. 10 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

In 2021, Smith led the Eagles with 64 catches for 916 yards and 5 touchdowns in his rookie season. He also set a new rookie record for receiving yards as he surpassed DeSean Jackson’s 2018 total. Smith also finished with the third-most catches by a rookie in franchise history.

Smith’s Alabama career is primarily remembered for 2 things. Smith became Alabama’s third Heisman Trophy winner, but he’ll always be known for being on the receiving end of Tua Tagovailoa’s 2nd-and-26 walkoff TD throw to win the 2017 national championship over Georgia.

But Smith’s decorated career includes holding the SEC and Alabama career record for receiving touchdowns with 46, and the Alabama and SEC career receiving yards leader with 3,965.
