Matt Landers, former Georgia and Toledo WR, commits to SEC West program
Matt Landers is making the rounds in college football, and the wide receiver is now on his third team.
Landers, who began his career at Georgia, has committed to Arkansas after he played last season at Toledo, and was third on the team in receiving. Landers turned heads at the end of last season when he helped kick off bowl season with a spectacular start in the Bahamas Bowl as he caught an 89-yard touchdown pass against Middle Tennessee State.
Landers made 20 catches last season for 514 yards and 5 touchdowns. At Georgia, Landers spent 2 seasons and made 9 catches, including 2 receptions for 27 yards against Arkansas in his only game of the 2020 season.
At Arkansas, it’ll be a reunion of sorts with Landers and several people in the Arkansas program who previously spent time at Georgia.
Landers, a 2017 product of St. Petersburg (Fla.), said the Hogs offered him a perfect situation to finish his collegiate career around people he’d known from Georgia, including Pittman, special teams coordinator Scott Fountain, safety Latavious Brini, and others.
“Really just a great fit. Great organization. Great offensive coordinator, great receivers coach and great staff. Like I said just familiar faces,” he told 247Sports.

Good for Matt. It never happened as expected for him in Athens with that 6’5” height, but I’m glad he’ll get a last hurrah in the SEC.
You have to actually put a receiver in the game and throw him the ball to develop him. You must trust him. He might drop a few because they all do!!!!! The best of all time dropped a bunch.
The difference is people kept believing in them and throwing them the ball. Then they eventually became dangerous receivers! They have to know their not sitting the first time they drop a pass!!!! That gives them confidence knowing the ball is headed their way a bunch!!!
I saw Metchie and Jamison Williams drop several balls last season. Even balls right in their hands. When they do it they say. You don’t see that much! Which is actually untrue!!! But when a receiver with potential that never has made it drops a pass. They say well he is prone to drops and drops are a problem for this guy!!!
TRUST HIM AND THROW IT HIS WAY MORE!!! That is the secret!!! Any receiver has a natural advantage over any db. Because he knows where he is going and he can catch much better. That’s why he’s a receiver and the other guy is a db. When a guy is 6.5. He also has a huge height advantage.
PS. Matt Landers is only a confident coach and a trusting good QB away from being a superstar receiver. How will he ever believe in himself, if others don’t???? SO BELIEVE!!!!
GOOD LUCK MATT!!!

Breathe boy I almost passed out trying to reading that thing.
I’m a deep thinker. It’s hard for me to write a line or two. But it’s no big deal to read it. I mean everyone here reads these long articles. Some are extremely long!!!
These SDS writers for the most part write volumes to say NOTHING!!!! At least I am actually saying something and bringing out real facts!!! But okay I’ll allow my finger to take a breath. LOL
Kirby once said of Landers. He is Randy Moss and just doesn’t know it. Let’s hope he figures himself out. If he does. Arkansas will have a mean offense!!! He was a 4 star wide receiver!!! So he has the talent!!!!!
PS. Honestly I think Arkansas will have a dangerous offense anyway!!!! Probably right up there with Alabama. Hope you can play defense!!!! I always root for Arkansas!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

Thanks Negan. Hope Dawgs and Hawgs meet in the SEC Championship game this year. Good insight on Landers was wondering about his background a little.
I used to root for Arkansas even before Sam Pittman. I also love Pittman. I did a bunch of lobbying for Sam Pittman to be hired at Arkansas. Because I knew someone was going to hire him and Arkansas is his dream school.
Pittman always loved Arkansas. He always wanted to return. Trust me. Y’all were about to make a TERRIBLE HIRE and I absolutely did some things to make them remember Pittman!!!! That’s the TRUTH!!!!
PS. So far it appears I was right!!!!!
Negan
You Lobbied for Pittman to get hired at Arkansas!! Kind of like your 30 rep 200 pound curls. You tell some whoppers Neggie.
Landers didn’t get a lot of snaps at UGA and he had a disproportionately high number of drops. Not sure what is blocking was like.
Hopefully Landers has a good run at Arkansas; not all players develop at the same rate so hopefully his best days are ahead of him.
Honestly not sure why we brought him in, our WR room is stocked with young talent. Bigger need is on the D-line especially with a projected starter out for the year with a torn ACL from the Spring scrimmage.
