Efton Reid, former LSU 5-star big man, reportedly settles on transfer destination
Efton Reid, a former top-30 recruit who was part of the mass exodus at LSU following the coaching change, has reportedly settled on his new school.
Reid, who was the eighth Tiger to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason, entered the transfer portal about a month ago, and has reportedly settled on Gonzaga as his new team, he told Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.
A Richmond, Virginia native out of the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Reid was rated the No. 3 center and No. 27 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. Reid signed with Will Wade’s LSU program over 14 other scholarship offers, including Florida State, Pittsburgh, Virginia and NC State.

Reid was the only LSU player to star all 34 games in the 2021-22 season, and he averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over 19.6 minutes. Reid shot 51.9 percent from the field.
In his final game at LSU Tigers in the NCAA Tournament, Reid had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 turnovers in 17 minutes.
The move is a big one for Gonzaga, as it elevates the Bulldogs into serious discussion as a legitimate national title contender ahead of the 2022-2023 college basketball season.
