Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis will enter the 2022-23 season on the hot seat. The pressure is on to win now and Davis has turned to the transfer portal to bolster his roster for next year.

Now, the Rebels could be on the verge of landing another key piece for their squad.

On Sunday, 6-11 center Theo Akwuba, a transfer from Louisiana, revealed on Twitter that Ole Miss was in his top 2 and that he’d announce his final decision on Monday:

The Rebels will compete with the Iowa Hawkeyes out of the Big Ten for the commitment of the former Ragin’ Cajun.

Last season, Akwuba appeared in 25 games for Louisiana, making 18 starts. He averaged 9.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2 blocks per contest.
