You must think that both Missouri and Arkansas had a realistic chance to win the SEC between 2013 and 2021 ?? But they didn’t. I’ll let you explain why Arkansas didn’t get it done? But no matter what place they finish in the league there’s going to be a reason every program but one isn’t a Champion, Why does it scare you so much to face the math of that?
Although Missouri’s QB bench showed promise, neither clearly illustrated they could out-perform Bazelak for 60 minutes. One has a significant arm motion tech problem that virtually assured incompletions/interceptions. The other didn’t seem to have the maturity needed but I do think both could grow into the job after sacrificing a few wins. Bazelak will do well in his next job but he’s not impossible to beat out. Missouri’s 2022 qb job is now a four horse race. Good luck guessing the winner but I can at least think their are only 3 possibilities for game 1
A smart journalist would serve a softball to Kiffin every week
? Because 1. The program already buys the TEAM everything with TV money, so when the game starts to be played between individuals not wearing University colors ….. 2. And all the other sport athletes will just whine a lot and quit playing their college sports?
Imagine doing that well with Steve Wilks laid back attitude, first half of the year?
Will the SEC abolish divisions when the conference expands? Why that’d be good and what it could mean
Arkansas fans are bad losers so they can’t be permanent opponents to anyone. Too bad because otherwise they are great folk all around. Right now we have two SEC conferences, admit it… so we have NO conference. Rotate all members equally their has to be a game between all members every year or at least every other year.
Bazelak did what he was told, he kept the defense wondering what receiver was going to get the ball The best Tiger receiver that should have gotten the ball more was NOT Hester but Hester did well, Hope he gets yards and enough attention to help his team win in a pass conscious Big 12
Pinkel did not leave the roster packed with stars, and after 2013 he should have brought in a super class. The 13 and 14 recruits were Sophs and Juniors when Odom took over. Somebody sure 3 years off !!! But what did Odom show beyond recruiting ????? Yet Drinkwitz with almost zero head coach credentials beat Florida, I think he beat Kentucky minus bad spots and bogus penalties (and Stoops does a good job rhere), South Carolina with an experienced coach, LSU defending Nat Champ, a decent Vanderbilt. And coached well against Army’a ace coach. Drinkwitz needs situational coach Ed. And def/ off playbook Ed. The verdict is still out on this but he’s not getting fired for at least two years. He’s too smart not to grow into this job. If he had been an Asst to Pinkel Missouri would be a division title contender 2016 thru the present. Missouri Alums have been following the rules, now that NIL is here, a lot of Tiger fans re goings to be drop jawed some
That would be an improvement but when you start monkeying with the complete round robin the conference is dead. And every program should play 2 to 4 non-conference opponents yearly. The SEC doesn’t even know what it is now with 2-divisions X 7-colleges. Then add the expectation that Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Auburn, etc. can all be champions every year …. And what have you got? Ans. miserable ungracious membership. Keep it simple so you have time to enforce the things that make college football special like amateurism and PEDs ban. NIL in a team sport? ridiculous self destructive identity insecurity.
No college football player should want to be paid. College is a special and stop-over in your life but ruined is you are not a true amateur. The NFL is so profitable they give certain players an obscene amount of money. Just sponsor a minor league and limit the years anyone can play there.
I have to say I miss Mack Brown some but man he worked for crooked bunch at one time.
It not a conference when you only play a member six years
Or you could just bring your argument for why aTm has won the SEC and Big 12 coaching staff and recruiting challenges needed to win the SEC West and or SEC?
I’d have to see more of their video but it’s not easy to win that many games in the Big 12
To really get this, account for the population of the state of texas, add two power five conferences, with some of the worst cheating programs of all time. Inside that border. Now look at the jimbo aTm, the limbo Lowborns, rebounding Baylor, and new power five Houston. This is not just about the aTm that can be Fishered out of the quagmire. It’s more about what a Fisher staff can execute. Just my opinion but I’m not giving Fisher any preseason favorite votes.
And thanks for adding Brad Smith’s name
This is a quarterback free for all now. Two running quarterbacks and two throwing Nobodies job is safe doesn’t matter who the opponent is. And Drinkwitz is also getting better receivers. I think we might see traditional Missouri football again sooner than we thought.
Pete Carroll praises early work of Drew Lock, says he would’ve been 1st QB selected in this year’s draft
This progression of quarterbacks does not come along at every college, Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert, James Franklin, Drew Lock, and yes lots of other Missouri quarterbacks are noteworthy, and I personally like to remember the Terry McMillian long ball to one of the fastest college receivers Mel Gray. Let me know if I’m leaving your favorite out and reply with some names and why you liked them. Yes I know I skipped one before Lock
Two parties taking a well educated risk and it seems like both will win this bet to me
So he didn’t play at Nebraska at all, but he will contribute at Missouri?
Yes, but moreover, Missouri had a fair amount of success promoting players before Pinkel ….and Odom left Missouri and head coached nobody anywhere to anything. Now he’s at Arkansas and let’s see if he can at least put Ark linebackers in the 1st round. But back to Missouri who has another inexperienced head coach. Look, recruiting is more of a personality and work ethic thing and Drinkwitz can do it. Teaching all positions on a football field takes a lot of learning… so does hiring those teachers. Lots of high draft picks underperform in the NFL because they are not supported in a dominant team anymore. What I want is roster and recruiting and teaching program building,.. everything else will take care of itself, including nfl promotion, but even if it doesn’t, college football is for men who have a career ahead of them regardless of football, and college football fans watching NFL games won’t become smarter either, lol
?unintended? Is putting lipstick on the pig. 1. These are supposed to be college students, so make them prove it. 2. It has always been a team game so don’t make any team member a 2nd class team member? 3. Who spreads the Name, Image, and Likeness??? media do. Fame in a team sport is manufactured, stop giving the mass media a pass for inaccurately reporting what happens in a college contest.
Greg Sankey, George Kliavkoff head to Washington to meet with senators over possible NIL legislation
The NCAA can fix this by limiting the number of league games. And by forcing league winners and maybe runners up to play in a higher division for one year. Also by limiting the amount of time players can spend traveling, practicing, and testing aggressively for PEDs. Also players that can’t demonstrate academic progress in an academic independent test are not “college” players and need to be in NFL minor leagues. Finally there can be no NIL for players of a team sport, without sharing the money, whoever thought of this has a fundamental ignorance of team sports.
1. There are only two SEC league programs that are helped by this “because we can” and no other good reason alignment. 2. Worse, the Big 12 expands into a true quarter of the nation league and is more truly improved than the SEC. 3. Count on Texas to manipulate the media coverage of SEC games and the SEC is already flunking league scheduling class. One possible good thing that could come out of this would be the end of permanent cross-division opponents but I doubt the league can pull this rabbit out of their hat. And let’s face facts here, when two programs only play once 6 years…. They are not really league members to each other, lol
Like Drinkwitz, Heupel will have to change enough to thwart the film study of yearly opponents. I say good work in 2021 but every year he has to operate with more of his own recruits. I’m withholding judgement till I see the 2022 version.
Good question and add to that,?how much is a QB education worth, assuming he got that from the family? Then how early wil he be thrown into a starting college job?
By the way, cubby, count the programs in the SEC that have been in that game since Missouri was there.
