What is Purple Tea?
Purple tea is a new kind of tea! Like other types of true tea (including black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong tea, and pu-erh tea), purple tea is made from the leaves of the camellia sinensis tea plant. Unlike these other types of tea, the leaves of the specific varietal used to produce purple tea are purple instead of green. Purple tea was found growing wild in the Assam region of India, and is now primarily grown in Kenya. Our purple tea is from the Tumoi Tea Garden in the Nandi Hills of Kenya. Purple tea has a light body and a mild, slightly floral flavor. This tea is extremely high in antioxidants and anthocyanins, beneficial compounds that can help to promote cellular health and ward off degenerative disease.
Miss Violet Caffeine Content
Like other types of purple tea, Miss Violet is very low in caffeine. Purple tea itself has a low caffeine content, similar to that of some white teas. This tea is then blended with other caffeine-free herbal ingredients like hibiscus, butterfly blue pea flower, lemon peel, and lavender, which further reduces the caffeine content. Because of its mild floral flavor and low caffeine level, Miss Violet makes a great afternoon tea.
Miss Violet Benefits
Miss Violet is full of unique and beneficial ingredients with tons of health benefits. These include:
Purple Tea – Purple tea contains only a small amount of caffeine, and is full of beneficial properties. Our purple tea is grown in the Tumoi Tea Garden in the Nandi Hills of Kenya, and is extremely high in antioxidants and anthocyanins, with almost twice as many antioxidants per cup as other types of tea.
Butterfly Pea Flower – Native to Southeast Asia and used in traditional medicine for centuries, butterfly pea flower is also high in antioxidants and anthocyanins, and can help to reduce inflammation and improve cognitive function.
Hibiscus – Hibiscus is another herbal ingredient with many health benefits. Hibiscus is high in antioxidants, iron, and Vitamin C, and together with the butterfly pea flower is responsible for Miss Violet's vibrant hue.
Lemon Peel – Lemon peel is also high in antioxidants and Vitamin C, and can help to boost your immune system and keep you healthy.
Lavender – Lavender is known for its soothing, stress-relieving properties, and adds a subtle floral note to this tea blend.
